Pegasus Opera and XRL Permissions and Exclusions

Pegasus Opera 3 and XRL require a constant, unbroken connection to the Pegasus database located on the server. An "onaccess" virus scanner will lock files momentarily whilst performing scans on them, interrupting connection to the database.

All Pegasus users MUST have the following folders excluded from any “on-access” virus scanning program on their workstations, and they also require “full control” permissions to these physical locations and network shares.

If not set correctly and maintained, this can lead to various issues, including potential data corruption. It should be noted that exclusions can be removed without user interaction, for example when the software is updated, so it should be part of a regular maintenance routine for someone to check that the virus checker’s on-access exclusions are constantly maintained.
